Today we picked up some nice screenshots from Kaixin Online (Happy Online), which is in open beta testing in mainland China right now. We hope these screenshots can give you a brief idea about how neat and beautiful the game is shaped.
In Town
As you can see from the above picture, everyone has got a blessing (buff). It’s evening when taking the picture so you can feel a kind of quiet there.
Wedding Ceremony
We happened to get a snap of the wedding ceremony. It’s really like the traditional Chinese wedding ceremony. Guards are escorting the bride to bridegroom. The angels are sending out little gifts to all the people in the town to celebrate this happy day! Fireworks are everywhere! You can find that your eyes easily get hurt if you follow the wedding team due to lots of splashing effects.
Battle and Skills
The upper left in the picture are the pets we are fighting against. The lower right are a team. You can see we are casting a skill at them and we formed a lotus flower formation under our feet.
Outside Town
We need to go outside the town to battle. As you can see from the screenshot, it’s an amazing place to hunt with your friends. Have you noticed that face? Yes, it’s sleeping time and you need to go to bed and take a rest. Normally it will take 30 seconds to rest for recovery.
Overall, the game reminds us of Monster and Me produced by TQdigital in 2002. We hope more and more stuff will be added to the game soon.
Meng Jiang Online started its Closed Beta in China on Jan 18th, 2009. Ming Jiang means famous warrior. The game background is set in the 3 Kingdoms period, ancient China when Wei, Shu and Wu’s three kingdoms were fighting each other, each of them seeking to unite China.
The game kinda reminds us of Phoenix Dynasty Online (http://pdo.enjoymmo.com). It has 2D backgrounds with 3D characters. However, the characters are far better looking than that game. There are 6 classes in total you can choose. Blademan, Swordman, Clubman, Spearman, Wizard and Priest. You need to distribute your points before you create your character. Do not mess it up otherwise it’s really hard to compensate yourself, lol.
As long as you know what color is, you can definitely look different from the other people. You need to choose your career path at first. If you choose warrior, you can become blademan, swordman, clubman and spearman; If you choose politicians, you can become wizard or priest.
After we log into the game, we were like: OMG! How could there be so many players dedicated to such a 2.5D game?! Are they mad? Here is the screenshot:
Did you notice the fairy on the upper right corner? She is very helpful when you are exploring the game alone. She reminds you when something/an action needs an explaination. And she is really sexy when she flies to you, lol.
Skills here are weapon based. If you use a spear you can only cast spear related skills. Before you learn some skills, you need to gain some basic kungfu points. These points can be gained when you complete any quests or from killing mobs.
Quests are really easy. You can use the robot funtion to find the target NPC/locations easily. But since it’s in closed beta, quests’ reward not high and you need to grind a bit to gain your levels. But that can be solved when open beta comes. Unlike other games, mobs are everywhere in the cities due to the first a few quests. But’s it’s really a nice setting: You will never feel lonely here. You will find a really defined community feeling here in the city.
Guess what we found? Take a look at the following screenshots:
We bet you know what are these systems in game. First is horse racing. You can gamble here to gain in game gold. We bet on the first horse but as you can see from the screenshot, yes we lost! -___- The second one is crafting system. We haven’t figured that one out yet lol…
Did you notice the arrows? When you fishing or doing other living skills, you can complete the tasks by playing this DDR-esqued mini-game to speed up the harvest. Just follow the directions of the arrows and tap in the combinations on the keyboard. Don’t hit it wrong otherwise you will start over again, lol.
Dungeon systems here are based on real history campaigns. If you have read a Chinese novel called: The Romance of the Three Kingdoms (and if you haven’t, pick up the book IMMEDIATELY!), you will find almost every famous campaign! Here are some screenshots from the official website:
Anti Dong Zhuo Union Campaign
If you understand Chinese or you are from Singapore, you can click here to read more campaigns.
We will bring more information after we reach certain levels. If you are intersted, you can share your thoughts here with us. We might get you a closed beta key, lol.

It’s no doubt that scholars help much in the normal game play of ELF Online. It seems to me that people have been asking on a consistent basis about the proper build for a scholar. Generally speaking, it really depends on what you will be choosing as the second job for you scholar. Currently, although I only have experience in buildiing the stats for a doctor, I will try to explain a short summary of the other 2 jobs as well: Poet and Alchemist.
First off, it is very important that each of the 3 jobs has enough Staminaina to meet the requirements for wearing dream, hero and legendary armor. You can easily check by going to the NPC in Dragon City that exchanges armor for gold powder and hover over the correct respective armor which for a scholar, should be leather. After meeting the Staminaina requirements, the builds start to branch off a bit.
Doctor
Since your main job will be designated as the healer vs. an attacker, it very important to have the correct balance of mp and hp. The AOE (area of effect) heals and single heals can start to become quite pricey at higher levels and therefore, a substantial amount of mp is needed. However, your most important job is to keep yourself from dying, therefore as important as MP can be, a higher level of HP can become crutcial. I have personally pumped 2 Wisdom, 3 Stamina or 1 Wisdom, 4 Stamina into my doctor in order to ensure that by lvl 60 my HP will be over 4000.
Poet
Your main focus will be to cast party buffs and act as an emergency, not primary healer. While I believe it is important to have a secondary healer, the poet will be using most of it’s store turn points in order to cast buffs to increase party attack, etc. I would personally go back to the old school build of alternating between 2 Wisdom, 3 Stamina and 3 Wisdom, 2 Stamina in order to keep a good balance of HP and MP.
Alchemist
Now here comes the tough decision. The role of an alchemist will play as a strong attacker, yet an emergency healer. Since the alchemist will primarily be attacking, I believe it is better to follow a Magician/Shaman/Hypnotist’s build of 3 Wisdom, 2 Stamina. It is really a hard decision on whether you would like to keep your HP high, or to forgo some HP in order to have enough MP to pull off all the attacks.
Final Notes
One thing to remember is that the builds I have mentioned above neither favor a pvp build nor a training build. I have tried to piece together what I have heard and it seems the conclusion was the balance that I have mentioned above. For example. if you would like your character to favor a pvp build, certainly pump more HP than MP.
Another common question was : What exactly does luck do?
In ELF Online, Luck will decreases monster’s enmity towards the character, so it will decrese the possiblity of being attacked. It might not be a bad idea to pump in some luck towards a PURE training doctor, but certainly never towards a pvp doctor.
How many of you used to play MU Online? If you’ve played that MMORPG, you will be attracted by its graphics and equipment. That game is old, but people still remember that and many private servers are held open for MU. Today I will give a little report on FengYun, a game made by a Chinese company called Aurora Technology which is located in ChengDu city. It’s really like MU.
The basic impression of this game for me is that, it’s a game designed based on three games: World of Warcraft, On the journey, MU.
Graphics:
This games looks like 3D, but actually it’s 2.5D. You can not adjust camera but it’s not a problem. The only problem that I encountered in playing was that you can not see your character when he/she moves in the shadow of the trees. It’s very neat and you can also find your footsteps fading while running. Effects of equipment are really nice, shining all the time. When you are under the water, you can swim.
Classes:
It is like MU, there are totally 3 classes: Warrior, Taoist(Mage) and Archer. And you can be a Sword Warrior or Spear warrior; Fire Taoist or Water Taoist; Arrow Archer, Crossbow Archer or Nurse Archer. Currently the classes are balanced though some Taoist in forum claimes that the new updates weakened Taoist, but all we know is that Taoist are too strong at the beginning. BTW, only Archer is the girl looking character. It’s interesting that you need to be verified through webcam of the GMs to make sure you are a true girl. Once your identity is confirmed, you can learn nurse skills to be a Nurse Archer and complete some certain quests.
Skills:
Since each class has two ways to train, so skills are totally different. If you want to be a Sword Warrior, then normally it’s impossbile to be an excellent Spear Warrior. In leveling up skills, all you need is Vigor, which can be obtained from killing monsters and completing quests. But you can’t gather so much Vigor as you think, so you need to make a good distribution of your Vigor and think carefully which skills are needed and which are not.
Quests:
There are loads of quests in game. You can level up by doing the quests very easily. You can touch off a quest by getting a quest item dropped by monsters; you can do the circulated quests for hunting; you can complete transportation quests by escorting goods and gain a lot EXP…. Some quests are boring, while some quests will give you some surprises.
Gameplay:
The gameplay of this game is not bad. Since I am only lvl 30, currently my feeling is that: It’s funny and sometimes you will get surprised. When you fight with monsters and all of a sudden, you will find a Boss full of precious items; You can suddenly come across a treasure box or a bag dropped from the mosnters. When you are lucky enough and find something valuable, this information will be broadcasted in all the server and make you famous.
Economy:
It’s not easy to gain a lot of in game money. And currently in game money is hard to gather and sometimes you will be worried about the in game money rather than purchased points. You can purchase some items from the company but that stuff doesn’t dominate anything. For example, if you want to upgrade your equipment in the game, you can not purcahse materials from the shop directly but to purchase from the hard working players. So some paying players complain in official forum saying they can not get what they want in the game, which is pretty fair to the non-paying players. So basically the economy in this game is good and balanced.
Equipment:
You can not upgrade the level of your equipment. You can change your equipment when you get to 10. 20. 30…etc. You can also get your equipment blessed by using stones/gems. Currently I didn’t see any socket items, and there isn’t any information on that in official website. The success rate is marked on each stone, so you will know the rate clearly. But once you fail, your item is gone.
My current conclusion:
What’s promising:
It’s a good game for killing time, beautiful design and interesting gameplay, balanced economy and good PK setting. You can play well by paying nothing.
The pratfalls:
Lag. When I see other players around me, or casting spells around me, I do feel lag. Hopefully they can solve this problem in the not-too-distant future. You can not make a female warrior, female taoist or male archer, that is no good either. Maps are a bit crowded and monsters need to be implimented more.
